"Biography" of the Stanislaus Mathematics Council

The Stanislaus Mathematics Council, established in 1969,  is  a volunteer  organization of early childhood through University mathematics educators with the goal of promoting outstanding mathematics education for all children in Calaveras, Mariposa, Merced, San Joaquin, Stanislaus and Tuolumne counties.  It is an affiliate of the National Council of Teachers of mathematics and the California Mathematics Council.  SMC works closely with, but is distinct from, the Stanislaus County Office of Education.  To achieve its goal, SMC sponsors mathematics competitions for 6th Grade, Middle School, and High School students, and locally held professional development activities for in-service teachers.

Additional members and volunteers are always welcome; contact an Executive Board member for more information.
