High school Math Competition
RULES AND REGULATIONS
CALCULATORS ARE NOT ALLOWED
Each school may bring up to 14 students who are currently enrolled in math courses offered on their campus, as described below. The competition will consist of two events:
Team Competition (The Bomb)
Each school will be allowed a maximum of two Bomb teams. Each Bomb team will consist of 5 students -- one student currently enrolled in a Geometry course, one student currently enrolled in an Algebra II or Advanced Algebra course, one student currently enrolled in a Math Analysis or Precalculus course and the remaining two students on the team must be currently enrolled in a math course offered on your campus. Questions on the Bomb will cover content from Geometry, Advanced Algebra (including Probability), Math Analysis and Calculus. Each school will need to supply one proctor per Bomb team.
Each team member will be given a different colored pen and must use this pen only. Each team member must solve exactly one problem on each of the five pages. After he/she solves a given problem, and signs his/her name next to the appropriate problem number at the top of the page, he/she will turn the paper face down, then pass the paper to the team member on his/her right. At no time should a student have more than one paper face up in front of him/her. No talking will be allowed during the competition.
When each student has solved or had the opportunity to solve one problem per page, the team captain will gather the five papers together, check the information at the top of each page, and hand them to the proctor. The proctor will hold up the school sign to be assigned an order number. The proctor will collect the pens and take the test and pens to the director or designee. The highest score with the earliest time will determine winners. Honorable mention ribbons will be given to the fourth and fifth place winners.

Individual Competition (The Blitz)
This is a timed multiple-choice test. A maximum of 14 students from each school may take the Blitz. The Blitz is given at four levels. Level 1 is for those students currently enrolled in a Geometry course. Level 2 is for those students currently enrolled in an Algebra II or Advanced Algebra course. Level 3 is for those students currently enrolled in a Math Analysis or Precalculus course. Level 4 is for those students currently enrolled in Calculus. The Calculus exam will cover topics from the AB AP Calculus course.
No two student taking the same test may sit at the same table. In scoring the students' work, there will be no penalty for guessing. In the event of a tie, the student with the least number of incorrect solutions will be ruled the winner. In the case of further ties, weighted questions will determine the winner. Trophies will be given to the first three place winners and two honorable mention ribbons will be given at each level.
NOTE: A 6th, 7th or 8th grade student enrolled in Geometry, Advanced Algebra, Math Analysis or Calculus may compete in the Senior High School Competition and must compete at the level of his/her enrollment.
